TikTok ban In India – Why ?

TikTok, a new social networking app, has taken by India by storm. The 15-second video sharing network is also quite popular in smaller towns of the country. TikTok, however, has come under scanner over misuse of the platform and is now facing ban in India.
Why TikTok ?
There has been a protests in India since last year regarding the Chinese Short Video Mobile App Tik Tok. Last year too there was a demand for closure of Tik Tok, while Madurai Bench of Madras High Court has now ordered the Central Government to ban the download of Tik Talk. Apart from this, the court has also said that the government also bans the video of Tik Talk on sharing on other social media platform like Facebook. Let’s know the whole case.
TikTok India Ban
The Madurai Bench on Wednesday gave some instructions to the central government about Tik Tok, in which talk of downloading of Tik Tok and discontinuing sharing of video has been stated. Please tell that the videos of Tik Talk have always been complaining about obscene material.
The court has asked the government whether it will bring such a law that can save children from cyber crime and keep them away. Explain that children in the US have a Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act to protect children from cybercrime.

India users account for around 25% of the total downloads, and the app’s user base is estimated around 250 million, according to an ANI report. TikTok, has a widespread presence across India with the app immensely popular in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.
At the same time, the Bharatiya Janata Party has also complained to the Indian Election Commission about the Chinese app like Halo and Tactok in India and has demanded action on these Chinese apps.
Significantly, before this, the Swadeshi Jagran Forum had also asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ban Chinese app such as Tic-talk and said that through these apps, there is a danger to the country’s economy or security.
